I was thinking about how instant noodles are so much better than they were thirty years ago, like they come with dozens of little packets of soup and meat and vegies and toppings and actually taste really good whereas back then they were like extruded plastic topped with industrial waste, it’s nice that some things do actually get better over time.

phones are also better, obviously, and cars too, cars used to be utter shit; TV is a lot more polished and production values are much better, TVs themselves are wafer thin and huge, iPads still seem like fake tech from a movie.

Oh huh do you guys get good toppings? I’ve actually noticed stuff around here get much better in the last 4 years in a way that seems like Japanese or at least Japanese-informed stuff getting into the supply chains, at the same time ramen shops are having a moment (they travel well for delivery, with broth and solids separate), I’m eager for the point where the local convenience store has a selection of freeze-dried mushroom and vegetable packets and those fish-protein cakes the Naruto spiral comes from to drop in
