I remember as a kid always hearing like “Brontosaurus had a second brain to run its tail cause it was so far away!” and I don’t know whether they’re still calling this fire-truck-rear-driver nerve structure a “brain”.
And I’m not sure how much my last year’s movement issues were in in-the-skull structures all along, but the way it manifested on a moving gradient from core to periphery suggests that some of the ability-to-perform-complex-and-delicate-motion-calibrated-on-immediate-tactile-feedback that I considered the “smarts” of my bodily control are actually derived from if not processed in the nerves in the limbs themselves.
