You know, “suffering is a choice, just don’t choose to” gets dismissed as juvenile pretty often for like, the central pillar of Buddhism.

My take on this is “people probably can think their way out of experiencing suffering as suffering sometimes to some extent, but it’s extremely rare and difficult and the majority who can’t still deserves help in having their suffering reduced because you can’t just assume they will think their way out of it”.

It’s weird for me with this recent personality change I realize with all these things like “suffering” I totally used to register, full-strength, but to cope with that I of necessity developed the sensibility that even fully felt that didn’t mean anything.

Whereas now I don’t feel it, meanwhile I suddenly have the option of directly empathetically feeling what other people are feeling, but I still know that doesn’t mean anything or compel me towards any reaction
