over the years i’ve had a number of teachers that went by Ms., is that not common outside the US?
Yeah I thought this was solved like 50 years ago. “Ms.” being invented as a neutral term that can be applied to both married and unmarried women, and doesn’t imply or exclude any marital status.
Thus we have distinct female honorifics for “unmarried”, “married”, and “questionably influenced by the 1980s popularization of 1970s feminism”
