You know all the modern “yay queer!” stuff grew out of a ‘90s sensibility, but when you think Queers In The '90s, you’re picturing people who survived a plague and a much more hostile culture, been really tested and passed. Like to just be out back then required you to be exceptionally self-aware, self-fulfillment-driven, independent-minded, confident, well-situated in alternative-to-mainstream subcultures and support networks, etc.

Now it’s like, this lumpy schlub in a comic book t-shirt wants the dream normie partner in his dream normie life to be a man? ok.
