So with stuff opening back up I’ve been hitting my local haunts and two of my regular bartenders have been relievingly accepting of my “yeah I’ll be stumbling and fumbling with my wallet and slurring my voice a bit sometimes now, swear I’m not drunk, don’t cut me off?”
It helps that for one it wasn’t acting up but for the other one it wasn’t so good and she opened by asking if I’d had a few already and had to have me repeat myself a few times but was totally accepting. I guess if anyone would know how drunk people sound when they talk it’s a bartender and maybe she was picking up that I had incongruously complex sentence construction for someone slurring that bad, also people are blessedly open to “weird nerve stuff, huh?” rn
