and often it’s not just the villains either, like when The Protagonist in Tenet is told that he’s now officially dead and has been recruited by a secret organisation to save the world or whatever he’s like “okay”, not “what about my family?” or “can I still text my buds?” just robotic acceptance of his instructions (maybe he’s a robot, I haven’t seen the end of the film yet).

I mean, John Wick and The Venture Brothers got a ton of mileage out of semi-accounting for this stuff.
