Oh in retrospect they were totally being taken as a folk canon like some multiracial equivalent of 19th century romantic nationalism like Mother Goose, huh?

I had an illustrated book as a young child that I think was published by Disney and in any case had a similar art style to other Disney films, that told the story of brer rabbit and probably some other uncle remus stories.

Never seen Song of the South tho’.

I saw it on TV in the 90s. It\u2018s so weird that they released/aired it in Europe before The Internet was a thing, and now they don\u2019t. Like, it didn\u2019t read as racism, and Disney knew it wouldn\u2019t outside the US, so they licensed it.
