Another funny thing re: those movies is that given how autopilots work and given their familiarity with home base communication and secondhand knowledge, in the unlikely and specifically guarded against case of the entire flight deck being disabled, for several decades now the lead flight attendant would almost certainly be better positioned to land the airliner safely than a private pilot passenger
