When people talk about the ticking time bomb scenario as some kind of contrivedly troubling trolley-problem/dust-specks ethics thought experiment, the "torture" they're picturing is some kind of horrifying maybe-lethal-but-certainly-disfiguring Middle Ages dungeon shit, not a college-hazing-level trick we're willing to do to our own guys as a training exercise.
