I wonder if they sold it to Spielberg as a prime-time reboot of the old theater cartoons then rerunning on Nickelodeon. “Renew a bit of the postwar youth moviegoing experience” seems right up his alley.

At least it wasn’t Animaniacs where “Scorcese birds” and “wheezy Jewish industry veteran grandma” were regular segments
