Laughing at the fact that my kitchen has mostly-white linoleum flooring, a residue of early-20th century hygiene fads (because it showed dirt easily, and thus how thoroughly it had been cleaned — or not, I haven’t mopped mine in 2 years) but from my perspective a packed dirt floor would be cleaner, so spills would just soak into the ground instead of evaporating and leaving residue behind
