My favorite MIRI-adjacent fact is that even though AIs won\u2019t have to deal with a concept of \u201cconsciousness\u201d in the same way anything else does, they\u2019ll have to get their basic software to recognize people as \u201cpeople\u201d somehow, and to do the hard work of creating what we call \u201ca person\u201d in the first place.
