you're probably aware of the phenomenon of ex-convict motivational/self-help channels on youtube, the idea of applying lessons from prison without having to go yourself, convincing yourself that you could totally survive prison, etc. the thought occurred to me that the phenomenon would absolutely be picked up by ex-slaves if we had social media and the internet in the 19th century, and now i'm wondering if literature along those lines really did exist in some form of another
and even in the modern day there’s probably some potential in programs that purport to train white people with the skills to survive the conditions of historical chattel slavery, some kind of intersection of crossfit and white guilt
