those chain restaurant light-up number consoles barnacled from the ceiling
because larger volumes and quicker turnaround and Taylorization but lower land values and bigger spaces in the suburbs etc., and it was more advanced than pinning order slips at the kitchen window and having cooks yell them out
but not yet computerized to the point of being analyzable
also they would be split like tables 1-20 lit by white lights and 1-20 lit by yellow lights for smoking/nonsmoking
