{"version": "1.0", "type": "rich", "title": "Like yeah, I had junior finance guys reading me in 2012 but that might've just been a 2012 thing when my generation of boys were...", "author_name": "kontextmaschine", "author_url": "https://kontextmaschine.com", "provider_name": "kontextmaschine", "provider_url": "https://kontextmaschine.com", "url": "https://kontextmaschine.com/post/630305992213741568/", "html": "<p>Like yeah, I had junior finance guys reading me in 2012 but that might&rsquo;ve just been a 2012 thing when my generation of boys were stretching out into the internet</p><p>Back in like 2013 or 2014 when you could still post inline images hosted elsewhere I put one on a post hooked up to an external IP tracker</p><p>And a good share of hits were from the Pentagon and like, the Rayburn Building, when I tried to explain that to people they thought I was acting like some sort of Weapon X that the government and military were tracking; but that&rsquo;s not the fact pattern that represented, it was that Congressional <i>staffers</i> and junior <i>staff officers</i> thought I was worth reading</p><p>Back in the dark enlightenment era I got recruited to a few publications (no, but I think one was The Federalist) and even retreat community-planning</p><p>Of the latter I remember 3; one was a guy who worked in an assisted-living kitchen and understood operating expenses pretty well but totally whiffed on capital investments and the relationship of location to available revenue streams</p><p>One was hedge fund guys with &ldquo;fuck you money&rdquo; wanting a nice little-league refuge to raise their kids except I knew they&rsquo;d fuck me as soon as they could </p><p>One was like &ldquo;I have some land in a day&rsquo;s range to LA and SF, we can start raising security forces there&rdquo; and I pointed out that if you have a bunch of open land in range and trained local California-certified security the way to monetize it is as Coachella-style <i>festival grounds</i> and never heard back</p>"}
