Seems like most left/left-adjacent circles have internalized the idea that it\u2019s bad to misgender someone even if they\u2019re an asshole but it\u2019s still cool to suicide bait them or send death threats

Like, obviously people still DO it. But are there really people who go on the record defending it still?

back in the mid-2000s on like, Matt Yglesias’ blog, when direct backchannel hate from strangers still came as e-mail, I noticed that both halves of “I will hurt or kill you//because you are actively being a wrongful thing” were distinctly right-marked

while stuff came from the left as supercilious death requests \u2013 “you should kill yourself//as you are pathetically worthless, having failed to be right”
