#00 is larger than #1 and is legal for hunting use in Oregon (for types of game where #1 is also legal).

Well, okay, lowest number, if I was going for smallest projectiles I can get #8 clay loads trivially

Oh wait, now I’m confused. I definitely haven’t seen anything below #1 in 12ga (but I’ve seen like #4, which I hear is for upland bird hunting that’s really a 20ga thing?)

Buckshot and birdshot use different scales, while using many of the same designations. So #4 buck is 0.24″ diameter, while #4 bird is 0.13″.

And no, I don’t know what you would use #4 buck for either. Maybe those tiny-ass deer they get in the southeast.

…I’m wary. So when a box doesn’t have a buck or a bird on it just like, speed lines, what the hell am I supposed to take shot size to mean?
