Something I learned in the dojo is “if someone comes at you with a weapon avoid the striking surface and counterattack somewhere between the hand holding it and the feet that connect them to the ground” and that’s one of those things that works well as metaphor

Also “flee from a knife, rush a gun” because for the first you’re only in kill range within arm reach and for the second that’s the only place you’re not
