Well why not a business that literally does that. With drones it wouldn’t even be too hard or dangerous. You just find an active volcano – one with a permanent lava lake – in some country without many environmental regulations, have people mail you their unwanted belongings (old photographs of exes, etc.) and then use a drone to drop them in from a few hundred feet up. Maybe attach a camera so they can see it happen. You’ll lose a lot of drones, but you can price that in. It’d probably be pretty expensive, maybe $1000 a drone load, but then you wouldn’t need that many customers to make it workable. I bet you could find a few hundred people a year willing to make a gesture like that, easy. It would be very Instagrammable, as they say.

People would burn books they disagree with and there would be Discourse. The Discourse would, however, be good for business.

Some Christian would pay to have some LGBT books dumped into the fire. This would, of course, create tons of controversy. All of which would increase name recognition and brand profile. Some atheists would have religious texts burned, and the mirror would happen, with Christians being outraged. It would also be good for business.

Then, people would have effigies of politicians burned. You’d get banned in China and similar countries. That would also be good for business, in the countries you weren’t banned from. (Perhaps you’d be banned in some EU countries under some nebulous “causing offense” law. Being close to banned under that law, but not quite banned, would be the ideal state of affairs.)

I am sure that a few people would want their remains volcanoed after they died. This would also be good for business; the news stories write themselves.

Maybe, you’d want to court the controversial customers right off the bat; imagine how much business you could get if only someone would pay for a confederate flag to be volcanoed. You’d make the news for sure.

But that’s the thing; even without any controversy-boosts, “service that dumps things into an active volcano” already would have articles written about it. Seems like a great business. Get on it, Severa.

NGL, this is the most actually viable business idea I’ve ever come up with and if I had 2 ounces of courage I’d go for it.

I’d call it “Creative Destruction”.

"}
