Small noises were driving me nuts as I tried to sleep - misc. house sounds, the refrigerator running, activity outside.
Eventually remembered I used to go to sleep to music until last year or so since I was 15 or so, remembered I used to listen to the silence so hard I would imagine voices of people I knew saying random things.
So opened up an ambient cast I used, set it low enough to be unobtrusive but loud enough to drown everything out and be clearly audible and unchallenging to process, and instantly got 3x more relaxed
Oh! By the time I stopped I’d been doing that at night just cause that was what I did at night, I didnt make that connection. This is what I’m saying, as bothersome as it is I’m getting some real insight into what my life has been from all this
