The Noid, the Hamburglar, all the kids’ cereals… what is up with food advertising mascots that actively prevent people from consuming their respective foods?

And they’re always sorta unreal – the cereal mascots are animated, the Noid was claymation, in a McDonaldland where Ronald is a guy in clown makeup, the Hamburglar is a human as portrayed by a human in a human suit

I guess I should think about what Burger King playing up the human-in-a-human-suit thing for their “King” mascot means, or what KFC’s doing with “The Colonel”, who once corresponded to an actual human.

It’s kinda nice that Wendy’s embraced the tsundere waifu route for their mascot instead of starting to fictionalize Dave Thomas
