Continuing to realize there was a good deal of bi M stuff under my nose in MLW erotic culture all along

Like all the “let’s show each other our chick porn and talk about what we’re jerking off to” stuff (or even “looking for a guy to tell how hot it is that my wife takes creampies from black dudes”) stuff I had been like “GAAAAAAAYY” and now I’m like “oh!”

oh Jesus, the whole “jocks are really gay, look at how they’re obsessed with the male form & slap each other’s ass” AND the “frats are really gay, all the dudes living together and their group sex w/women is really about each other”

Jocks & frats were bisexual all along!

Wait is that why professional sports were so homo-negative with athletes fixated on the possibility of there being “a gay guy” in the clubhouse/showers? Because so many of them understood the preference for m/f over m/m ideologically and expect things to change radically if the culture slips?

You know how tolerance of homosexuality led to a decline in close male friendship? Maybe the exaggerated homophobia is an antidote to that. Team sports require a high level of group cohesion and comfort with physical closeness, which would be severely undermined if everyone was no-homoing all the time. Placing homosexuality completely beyond the pale is an antidote to that. Strong and obvious homophobia means that there aren’t going to be many gay guys in the locker room, and even if there are a few there’s no chance of them showing it. That makes the locker room a space where the athletes can do all the bonding rituals with each other that are required for effective play, and can be naked in a hot tub together, etc. – things which seem gay to outsiders but mostly aren’t – without calling into question anyone’s masculinity.

shh, don’t spoil his fantasies

Yeah I think a lot of it is to do with gayness being “””obviously”” not the case”.

I noticed in secondary school that boys would jokingly hit on eachother and ask questions in a sexual matter, and it’d be understood that they’re joking, but if a boy were to ‘jokingly’ hit on a girl or ask her sexual questions, because heterosexuality is assumed, it’d suddenly get really awkward because there might be actual sexual intentions in there.

We always liked to unsettle each other in high school and we had this one friend you could unsettle by full-body deep kissing so we’d sneak up and do that until he revealed his vulnerability as “oh I actually prefer sex with men” and so we gave him shit about that
