Like… no. I want to cut this off now. The last time I had sex with a teenager was when I was a college senior dating a sophomore. Now I absolutely do things like see a high school track squad go jogging by and think about how they’re very sexually appealing, and the fact my emerging sexuality first impressed on my classmates and not, say, teachers or friends’ moms, probably explains why I’ve seen more porn vids tagged Teen than MILF.

I am aware of some of the culture around online grooming, mostly for the same reason I know about 2000s MyRedBook-era online ‘mongering” prostitution-client culture: I like knowing about things going on out of public view!

Past that I think “sex with teenagers” is legitimately important! It was openly central to to rock & roll and the generation gap that reset American culture for a half-century in the 60s, central to culture wars in the 80s and today, we’re now realizing apparently it was some of the glue of elite solidarity in the 90s.

I’m seriously starting to think that shifting rates and styles in how teenagers are inducted into the adult world through sex and how that affects their personalities is important to accounting for social shifts, and by not talking about it we’re leaving a lot missing!
