Syria and the aftermath of the Arab Spring are interesting since since the US pulled out they’re basically the first geopolitics since the fall of the empires that isn’t in some sense – or coopted into being – about the US

(Well maybe some stuff in Francophone Africa - but mostly because the empire there never fully fell.)

It’s a shame that the only people I see really theorizing about it - the Twitter bappin crowd - seem literally psychotic, and and this is coming from someone experiencing a bit of a mental break right now

I saw one guy in a thread and all his replies, like, as statements they did in fact address the things they were in response to, but his tone was just so divorced from anyone else’s it was surreal. Not like autistic missing social cues but reminded me of talking with schizophrenics who were like, in the real world, so not the guys downtown yelling arguments at no one, but clearly experiencing a totally different version of it
