It occurs to me that one minor difficulty that “militarized” police have added to the Army’s plate, were they to be deployed in American cities, is that their battle fatigues are less visibly distinct from those of police in a situation where “we’re not those guys” would be a de-escalating message to send.

one reason why the army shows up in forest/desert camo instead of urban camo I guess

I mean the US just doesn’t have an urban camo pattern like its green/desert variants (for everything! Quality boots are now made in light tan; even guns are brown and that bleeds to the civilian market)

The closest to blue/gray we have is that Navy camo they did in the 2000s when they felt left out, and were like “no we don’t want the orange ‘tiger stripes’ used by other countries, that dilutes our brand!” and then realized that the only thing Navy camo actually blends in with, it makes it harder to see men overboard
