To add to the list of the previous’ homeowners halfassed home improvements that I’m running down before replacing it all:
The entire bathroom is done in subway tile. The shower walls are lined with it, except for a strip of decorative tile of a completely different thickness, and the corners where two glass triangles were grouted? to the wall to act as shelves.
(They’re poorly situated and when I slipped and grabbed one to steady myself it shattered in my hand, I bashed the rest of it out.)
The wall is at least the traditional place for subway tile, though they use a wide white grout that’s contrary to every other use I’ve seen; they also use it diagonally on the floor, where it is starting to crack and dislodge because those large, thin rectangles are not designed for weight-bearing use
