US demography is so nuts. This strip of land from Atlanta to Boston (passing through Greenville, Charlotte, Raleigh, Richmond, DC, Baltimore, Wilmington, Philadelphia, all of NYC, Bridgeport, New Haven, Hartford, and Providence) makes up roughly ~10% of the US population and ~20% of its GDP. In population terms this is almost as big as Canada or Poland
