I just read this webnovel about, uh. a world in which anime people and humans coexist? it’s unfortunately weirdly horny in a way that is somehow actually very anime in its compulsiveness, like panty shots but for plot/worldbuilding. but there are extensive digressions on real historical religious/revolutionary movements, including Mormons, ghost dancers, and the Boxer Rebellion, which seamlessly blend with accounts of catgirl succession crises and the origin of anime people, and that’s pretty great.

There is a story told to humanoid kittens as part of their cultural education. The story is called a fairy tail. Fairies are like mahou shoujo, but imaginary. There are no fairies mentioned in this fairy tail, and fairies do not even have tails, so the story is poorly named. Mew.
