In fairness to Democratic insiders, a Sanders or even Warren nomination would sever the relationship to the donors and pretty suddenly end a lot of the left-of-center infrastructure in America, from party structures to para-party structures like think tanks to “activist” protest/lobby/lawfare/discourse NGOs to pretty neighborhoody service providers/patronage operations

And even if they won (not obvious!) they couldn’t immediately prop up replicas of the Old Left (labor unions? the Catholic Church?? white ethnic pride organizations???) to fill the gap, first time around those had been percolating for decades; New Left institutions were intentionally defunded and tamed in favor of neoliberal/NGO stuff as part of the 80s/90s DLC thing
