Hall &amp; Oates are hip and I can even appreciate Mariah Carey now, though I still think she ruined melisma for a generation.</p>\n<p>I was thinking about this because I was wondering just how much of New Found Glory&rsquo;s success came from their covers laundering the &lsquo;80s for us right when we were on the cusp of being ready. Except they do the punk-vocals thing in a way that&rsquo;s got the snot without the sneers, and who wants to hear these overblown romantic power ballads that were ridiculous enough covered to sound like they&rsquo;re coming from 14-year old boys and&hellip; oh. 14 year old boys.
