And this is all bullshit because the ability to empathize with others isn’t a superpower granted to me by my amazing intellect, it’s a common human thing and my reticence isn’t a self-sacrificing act of amazing restraint which in turn excuses periodic lapses into pointless cruelty but instead a public and clearly readable declaration that I find other people’s selves intolerable, combined with a refusal to allow others reciprocal access to my own vulnerable internality
