In fairness to those Miami cops catching flak as trigger-happy from the other day, yeah, maybe you could have fallen back and caught up with those jewel thieves later, but they know the cops are onto them, they’ve already proven willing to respond by taking hostages and go guns blazing, no reason to think when you caught up they wouldn’t have taken 30 people hostage in a more defensible position, setting up a worse bloodbath
