I was thinking about the Star Trek multi-dimensional chess, and I used to think of it as silly fluff, one more “yes, we do X in the future… fuuuuuuture X ::insert of silly prop::”

But if our chess was from and for the leadership class of ground armies, it kinda makes sense that a force that deals in open space and gravity wells and warp and wormholes, the world of the Picard Maneuver and slingshotting around a star back in time, would have a corresponding game.

But then I thought: is there some corresponding 3D game that, say, fighter pilots favor today?
