That was one of the figures of early-90s precarity (also the downtown bike messenger), that was what you did as a creative classling newly arrived to the city, they wouldn’t expect you to profess a passion for whatever widgets, it would be “yes I am willing to do Business for money” and they’d give you some business, and some money for it

And if you were gonna not make it and offramp to a Business career it’d give you ins, but as an alternative to barista…ing it’d be something you could do while you broke in
