One sad thing, we’re now too far from the medium-term reaction to 9/11 that there’s this scene I thought up when I was trying to be a screenwriter that won’t work
It’d be the protagonist confronts some secondary antagonist (who thought he was taken care of) in his skyscraper corner office for some McGuffin, and the antag is all cowardly begging for mercy
And there’s some offscreen sound indicating a pursuit team is closing in, and we see the protag react to that, and then look back at the sniveling antag, and there’s an airliner visible out the window
CUT TO the pursuit team banging their way through the office in body armor and carbines, they burst into the office, the protag somehow draws their fire but dodges and they just shatter the window, the protag JUMPS OUT
And running up to look down at him they see him sailing away on a parachute, ‘cause he realized that fearful little shit obviously kept an emergency parachute in his office
