Since you were a lesbian in the 90s, rec me some good 90s lesbian music
Since you were a lesbian in the 90s, rec me some good 90s lesbian music
I mean, I *played with a lesbian identity as a way to fill a felt void in the absence of any material deprivation*, but that just makes it more 90s
Before Napster or the internet if you weren’t hooked into, like, a scene, you pretty much heard things on the radio or MTV or read about them in SPIN or Rolling Stone, and maybe you’d learn about Belle & Sebastian and the review would even mention Tullycraft but it’s not like there was a link to click to them with a sample of their music or anything
But the 90s actually had a kind of pop “women’s music” thing, (not to mention “lesbian chic”) as the culture machine digested what remained of the second wave, you had Lilith Fair basically as a mass-market MichFest, your Ani DiFranco, your Indigo Girls and Jill Sobule and even less-industry stuff like L7 and Bikini Kill got airplay
Plus I mean Queen Latifah
