Walking down the street, nearly had a stroke when I realized that \u201csupport the troops\u201d and \u201cthin blue line\u201d sentiments are, from a red tribe perspective, expressions of solidarity with workers oft-mistreated and exploited by their bosses \u2013 politicians and the citizenry \u2013 and they might in fact be the strongest expression of labor solidarity in America today

It\u2019s weird that \u201csupport our troops\u201d tends to blur together with \u201csend our troops to die in pointless wars\u201d but I think you\u2019re right that the emotions/aesthetic behind them are quite similar.

I have a shirt that read, \u201cSupport the troops: end the war\u201d back during the Bush years. Great way to start an argument!
