Roseburg, OR

So I was already composing the “I may have found the new Bend but I sure didn’t find the new Portland” post in my head when I checked out Medford for the first time and ugh, and Grant’s Pass and ugh, both modern freeway-arterial-feeder-culdesac towns

So back on I-5 I almost didn’t bother when I saw a sign for “Roseburg” But I did.

I was walking around for 15 minutes and was like “this\u2026 could work”, which was a thought I hadn’t had anywhere else on the trip, or as I’ve realized, in Portland for a while

But I restrained my enthusiasm, I was like “Remember when you first came to Portland and it was so perfect you were crying and hysterically laughing? It’s not doing that.”

And give it another 15 minutes and, welp
