Anonymous asked: Do you ever think maybe you're inventing these cultural narratives as a means of processing the quotidian realities of aging and drifting away from friends and peers and coming to terms with not achieving your dreams and reconciling yourself to an ordinary and unremarkable life? Sort of like everyone else in the world?
Eh there’s something to that
But man, everyone else in the world doesn’t go around inventing cultural narratives, they mostly go around uncritically receiving them while shrinking their scope to treat their generic Live, Love, Laugh family as important and meaningful
Meanwhile I bet even you’ve got cultural narratives in your head you didn’t invent yourself, ones that affect how you judge the world you see, what you value, what you think comes next and how to try and get there. Where do you think those came from?
