When I moved into the new (current) house it was overrun with vines, and part of that was on some stone retaining walls that they were forcing apart but also holding together

I ripped the bandaid (the vines) off and it’s started crumbling in parts and I should replace it in 3 yrs at the longest.

The worst part is almost ashlar, but it’s been patched and stapled so much already it might be a total loss and I was wondering if I could get it jagged like the base of Japanese “Shiro” castles

And then I pass this house reminding me what a stone fortification base built to modern standards looks like
