You can’t just say that 24 is the gay number here without explaining why, because it’s so, so dumb.
Here in Brazil there is this popular but illegal lottery called Jogo do Bicho (“Animal’s Game”). In it there are 25 animals, and each have a number. Deer (“veado” in portuguese) is number 24. In Brazil, veado is also used as a slur towards gay men (no ones knows why, exactly; there’s lots of theories). Thus, 24 became known as the number of the veado.
