And it got me thinking of a vision of libraries as the American agora - a space for inquiry, public discourse, civic bonding, and homeless guys jacking off in public

(Setting aside that I’ve lived in a culture - a college campus - where libraries were social gathering points open late and it wasn’t really that huge shakes)
