Pretty surprised this YouTube playlist keyed off Grace Jones took this long to get to Kate Bush

I… actually that’s a good question, I hear everyone describing YouTube as a “radicalization engine”, where once it keys off something it’ll start showing you things with the same vector direction but larger magnitude away from the mainstream, left-skepticism leading to hard rightism, jogging leading to ultramarathons etc.

But that… doesn’t happen with music, on YouTube or other algorithm-driven stuff like Spotify, like if you call up Meredith Brooks and Paula Cole it’ll go full Lilith Fair, maybe Ani DiFranco at the most, but it won’t feed you Riot Grrl or even MichFest stuff
