Rhetoric aside, I think a lot of people noticed just how crazy a two-party democracy can get, and this election season (early on) we had a significant amount of people rooting for tertiary parties. Remember Gary Johnson? Jill Stein? For a while, there was Bernie as an independent too. It certainly doesn\u2019t fix the fact that the crazies took advantage of the two party system, but the divide in the Democratic party between the \u201ccentrists\u201d/reformists/classical liberals/neo-classical liberals and the radical/revolutionaries/socialists/marxists/etc. could be enough to drive that split, if not for the libertarian/authoritarian divides of the country.

at least splitting the parties would deescalate some of the more extreme cultural weirdness you\u2019ve got going on
