So when people talk about golf courses as a drain on dry environments

Like, it’s not like alfalfa fields or nut orchards where the crop that represents all this water investment gets shipped across the world

If you draw water up from an aquifer and pour it on the ground above that aquifer, or if water falls on some ground and ends up trapped in a reservoir and then you pour it on the ground, where in the water cycle is the loss exactly?

Like, I’m open to the possibility there’s a good answer, it’s just not obvious
