the new thing that armenians are pissed about is the armenian church at ejmiatsin possesses (they claim) the holy spear aka the lance of longinus and apparently they recently gave a small portion of its shaft to the russian church as a gift but also they did it without telling anybody. someone or other got wind of it, started raising a ruckus (and this is all in the context of people are already calling for the catholicos’ resignation on account of general corruption), and the church admitted it was true then even had to bring out the lance for everyone to see they still have (most of) it and everyone on facebook is just losing their shit. i love living in the year 1200 AD
