It’s interesting how Internet attitudes towards piracy went from “It’s great, but for legal reasons, don’t talk about it here.” to “You’re stealing from the creators!”.

Relatedly, the Internet of old would’ve either ignored or been highly amused by disturbing YouTube videos aimed at children, and they would’ve laughed at the mainstream media for making a big deal out of it similarly to “What is your teen texting?”. Gone is the presumption of ironic detachment, and I miss it.

This has obvious good and obvious bad aspects, and was probably inevitable given simple aging effects, but yeah, I know the feeling you’re describing.
