as with similar videos of police shootings, it didn’t clarify the debate or shift the Overton window so much as just encourage everyone to dig in further by reinforcing the views they already held.
in particular such debate as there was mostly centered on whether the rules of engagement had been followed or if the decision to fire was strictly legal, much as it does with most of the police shooting videos, ignoring the context that led to this situation taking place at all.
once you reach the point of having helicopters circling a city firing missiles into buildings they suspect might hold insurgents you have to accept that kids are going to die no matter how strictly the pilots follow the rules.
I think the best parallel is to the introduction of unrestricted submarine warfare in WWI, that helicopters/submarines can inflict great damage, but unlike previous warcraft that moral norms of war were developed around, it’s not really practical for them to demand or accept surrender
