for america’s corps of upper middle class professionals, other countries can already offer a comparable standard of living at a significantly lower cost (with socialised medicine alone making a persuasive argument) - it’s just that there’s not yet a corresponding ‘push factor’, and countries other than germany aren’t yet investing seriously in recruiting american intellectual labor

luckily it’s not as if the two most obvious bubbles in the american economy are in healthcare and higher education, or anything like that
